DS291: Exploring DEI in Technology

Boston University

Problem

Students from underrepresented backgrounds were leaving the STEM pipeline, and no course spoke to how technology and equity connect.

What I did

Ran a culture survey of 500 students, then built DS291 from it, a 14-week accredited course on equity in technology. Sole course creator, working inside BU Spark! with a team of 8 on a $5K budget.

Results

95% completion across 60+ students. The course became the foundation of the Tech Socialization framework.

Web and Product Design Workshops

Problem

Small business owners needed websites and online stores but didn’t have a technical background or a budget for an agency.

What I did

Taught workshops in web design, product design, and e-commerce, built for owners doing it themselves.

Results

40+ small business owners trained. Selected by CWE to lead a multi-site webinar on website building in fall 2026.
